GLOW 2.03

Concerned Women of America

Ruth and Debbie work on a public service announcement (PSA) to be aired during the show. They are pushed to do it in response to a complaint from the faceless Concerned Women of America who feel that the show is setting the wrong example for young women. Ruth and Debbie develop a PSA about teenage pregnancy. Most of the women of GLOW are in the PSA. Justine plays the teen in the PSA who is being pressured by her boyfriend (played by Bash) to have sex. Carmen plays the role of the baby.

Ruth is supposed to go on a date with Russell, the cameraman, but Debbie wants to stay late to work on the PSA. Ruth cancels or postpones the date. Russell isn't happy about it. At the end of the night it seems like Debbie only pushed Ruth to stay late out of either spite or loneliness.

Cherry returns. She is seen working on the set of the Chambers & Golf, the TV show that she left GLOW for at the end of the first season. She is having trouble getting the job done. She's having trouble remembering her lines and doesn't get along with the director. Keith, her husband does his best to help her but he winds up turning to Sam for help. Sam tries giving Cherry a pep talk but when that doesn't work he goes directly to the TV station that is producing the show. It is the same station that is producing GLOW. He talks them into reworking the format of the show. Will that do the trick?

The women of GLOW (minus Ruth and Debbie) throw a party. Melanie organizes the party but at the same time she is constipated and desperate for a cure. She winds up getting help from Jenny who does so in return for Melanie's jacket. Melanie gets her cure but then loses out on the guy she was hoping to score with, who winds up with Jenny.

This episode is a bit of an inbetweener. There's more development than resolution. The PSA was well put together and funny. It was good to see Cherry return. I think Keith was in at least one of the prior episodes. I don't recall seeing Tammé in this episode. If she was she didn't have any lines. Debbie keeps rocking the blue eye shadow.

All in all a pretty good episode.
