UnReal 3.04

Confront

It looks like Passport to Dance, Jay's proposed show is getting the green light. Things never move that fast but in the reality of the show it seems to be the case. A couple problems arise over the course of the episode. Jay wanted Xavier, his boyfriend, to hosr the new show but Quinn wants Alexi to be the host. Guess who that fight? Later in the episode Jay finds out that Alexi likes to snort coke. His coke habit probably explains in part his wild behavior. Jay bribes Alexi with more coke after he loses interest in hosting Passport to Dance. Jay does not look like he is comfortable being his provider but he still does it.

Chet brings a reporter on to the set of the show. She does what she can to dig up as much dirt as she can/ She talks Madison into getting her a few minutes with Serena. The reporter lets Serena in on some of the dirt that has been kept from her. Serena confronts Rachel who is still on an honesty kick. She spills the beans about how she talked Alexi and August into going out with Serena. She also drops the fact that August has slept with Quinn.

Rachel leaves the set towards the end of the episode. She confronts the man who raped her years ago. This seems to have come out of nowhere. It was revealed last season that she had been raped by one of her mother's patients but I'm pretty sure this is the first bit of follow up this season. The guy claims it was consensual but she was 12. He claims to have believed she was 17. There's a big difference between 12 and 17. I have a hard time believing he couldn't tell that she wasn't 17. He tells her about how her father beat him up afterwards. Rachel knew nothing about this. She thought her father didn't know about the incident. The new information throws her for a loop.

A big deal is made out of who cut August's hair. It doesn't amount to much but it does give the other contestants something to do.

Jeremy and Charlie go on a date.

Madison has a little arc all her own. She is convinced that Gary is good for her and her career, at the beginning of the episode. Conversations she has with the reporter and with Quinn, most importantly, make her start to doubt her confidence in Gary. Quinn even pulls her aside and seems to try to talk some sense into her, minus the biting sarcasm that she usually dishes out when dealing with Madison and most everybody else on the show.

On the whole I really liked this episode. It dumps a lot on the table and mixes it up. There are some things that are happening a little too quickly but there's enough here that I like that I can forgive the parts that I do not.
