Luke Cage 2.12

Can't Front on Me

Someone is selling drugs with Bushmaster's name on them. This is similar to what was happening at the opening of the season when someone was selling drugs with Luke's name on them. Luke tails Bushmaster and finds him about to attack a production or distribution warehouse for the drugs. He helps Bushmaster to tear the place apart and fight off the Asian gangsters that are guarding the place.

Misty gets the Feds to offer Shades an immunity deal. He spills he guts once he gets the deal. He tells them about the murders of Pops, Tone, Candace, Rittenhour, Commanche, and Anansi. The cops have invited Commanche's mother to watch behind one-way glass. She gets a face to face moment with Shades before she leaves, and spits on him. Misty insists that Shades needs to produce the pearl-handled revolver that was used to kill Candace, Anansi, and Pistol Pete Stokes. Without it the deal he signed with the Feds is null and void.

Matilda goes to visit her uncle Cornell's grave. She thanks him for all he did for her. She turns to Bushmaster and offers him a super-shot of Nightshade. She wants him to use it to help kill her mother. Sheldon is against it but McIver accepts it and promises to use it. She also shows him how to get into the club undetected.

Luke goes to see Mariah. He tells her he knows what she is up to with the drugs. She tries turning her "charms" on him. She tells him that he is her guardian angel and will make sure that Bushmaster doesn't kill her. I was surprised that he let her touch him.

Misty sends Shades into Harlem's Paradise to get the revolver. I was surprised that he made it up to see Mariah. He got patted down but no one checked to see if he was wearing a wire. Mariah takes him down to her bunker in the basement, after they watch KRS-One do his thing on stage. The stage show continues until Bushmaster arrives on the scene. The crowd and almost everyone else evacuate once the shooting begins.

Misty and Luke arrive separately but are both on hand for the showdown at Harlem's Paradise. Bushmaster finds the bunker but had to work at it to punch his way through the thick reinforced door. Mariah was about ready to kill Shades before Bushmaster showed up. She had opened his shirt and found the wire. He talks her into giving him the revolver. He tries shooting Bushmaster but he's too strong to be stopped by bullets. Misty and Luke make it down to the bunker and join the fight. The melee goes on for a while until Bushmaster finally takes off into the night. Shades hands over the revolver to Misty. Mariah is arrested.

I was a little surprised that the fight at Harlem's Paradise started and ended in this episode. I was expecting the episode to end on a cliffhanger during the fight. Do the cops have enough evidence to get Mariah indicted for the murders she committed? They have the gun but is Shades' word enough evidence to connect her to the murders? What happens next? They seem to have wrapped up a number of loose ends but what will happen with Bushmaster? Matilda? I'm pretty sure that there will be a showdown between Luke and McIver. I'm not so sure about Matilda but I think she will is going to start to walk down some dark pathways now that her mother is in police custody and there is no one else to run the family business. Maybe Sugar and Alex will step up and agree to work for her.

A decent episode. I'm looking forward to the season finale. From what I understand not everything will be resolved because the show runner thought that they were going to get another season.
