UnReal 3.08

Recurrent

Quinn tries to enjoy a day away from Everlasting but Chet finds out where she is and comes after her. Fiona tries to shoo him away but she has to leave. At the same time Chet encourages Madison to create some chaos on the set.

Rachel goes to see her mother. She's looking for her father, but he isn't home. It seemed like a bad idea and maybe, ultimately it will prove to be the case but for the moment it seems like Rachel may have come out stronger from that encounter. Her mother talked down to her but Rachel shrugged it off in a way that she didn't seem capable of doing in prior encounters with her mother.

Serena and the four remaining men share some information from their public media feeds. Serena shares a picture of her with George, a guy whom she says she had a serious relationship. They almost got engaged. Madison is watching the footage and gets an idea. She gets George to come to the set. He disputes Serena's characterization of their relationship and says that he had to get a restraining order to get her to stay away.

Serena is devastated and wants to quit Everlasting. Rachel and Quinn talk her into coming back. Rachel then makes a fool out of Jasper during an interview. It seemed for a moment there that Jasper might get cut this episode but that honor goes to Alexi, who breaks Jay's heart. Jay tries to set up something fun for he and Alexi but the dancer doesn't want to have anything to do with it. He isn't gay. He's just doing what he does for the drugs that Jay has been getting him. Jay returns the favor by letting Serena know that Alexi has been using cocaine again. He leaves out the part where he provided Alexi with the white powder and did it with him.

Chet feels bad about what he was going to do for Gary and tells Quinn what he was up to. He tells her about how he tries to break into her computer. She doesn't take it badly and suggests that they turn this around on Gary. Presumably she is going to get Chet to feed Gary some bogus information that will encourage him to do something stupid.

The episode ends with Rachel trying to come on to Dr. Simon. He pushes her away. She goes to see Alexi who is more than happy to have sex with her. This part seemed very spur of the moment and cartoonish. I guess this means that Rachel is hurting from something her mother said.

Decent but not perfect. I'm enjoying the ride and all the twists and turns along the way. Not everything feels earned. Some things happen a little too rapidly but with just two episodes to go in the season I can't see myself getting off this ride until the season is over.
