Atlanta 2.01

Alligator Man

Earn is on probation for some sort of minor drug related crime. Alfred is under house arrest. Darius and Alfred aren't on speaking terms, even though they are still sharing a house. Earn is about to get evicted from the storage unit where he lives. Aside from the storage unit I don't recall any of this stuff from the end of season 1.

Earn asks Darius and Alfred, individually, about what's going on between them. Neither of them wants to talk about it. Darius gives Earn a ride to the drug treatment center where he has to check in. On the way back they go to check on Willy, Earn's uncle. He's a bit eccentric. Someone calls the cops on Willy and they show up while Earn and Darius are there. Willy locked Yvonne, his woman, in a room and she screamed to the neighbors for help.

Earn tries talking Willy into going outside and talking to the police. Willy doesn't want to do that. He tells the police that. There are some good character moments but Willy doesn't want to leave his home to talk to the police. It is hinted that he has plenty of stuff in the house that could get him in trouble with the police, including an alligator.

Earn and Darius eventually give up on talking Willy into talking to the police and leave. Willy gives Earn a gold plated gun before he goes, telling him that he's gonna need it if he's going to continue working in the music business. After Earn leaves the front door opens and out comes the alligator. Willy takes off out the back door while the cops and the neighbors watch the alligator strut out of the house.

Earn and Darius return to Alfred's place. Earn shows them the gun and learns that he won't be able to stay there.

This episode opened with a couple of young guys who rob a fast food restaurant. One of them reminded me a bit of Earn. I thought maybe it was supposed to be a flashback and he was a younger version of Earn but I don't think that's the case.

Donald Glover doesn't look quite as thin as I recall him looking in the first season.
