UnReal 3.01

Oath

Rachel returns to Everlasting after a 6-month hiatus. She has spent the time on a farm, taking care of animals and working on telling the truth. Quinn talks her in to coming back to work on the reality TV show. Rachel talks Quinn into accepting Chet's idea: have a female (instead of male bachelor at the center of the show. Serena, the female bachelor, is loaded and makes her money investing in tech companies. She hasn't had much experience dating, or at least that's the impression I get.

The episode title refers to a scene early in the episode when Chet insists that they (Quinn, Rachel, Jeremy, Chet) take a blood oath. He is concerned, more so than the others it seems, that one of them will say something about what really happened to Coleman and Yael at the end of the previous season.

The first episode of the new season of Everlasting begins and it quickly becomes apparent that Serena doesn't live up to Quinn's expectations. She refuses to wear a revealing evening gown. She wants to get rid of one of the suitors, that Quinn wants to keep, 10 minutes into the episode. She goes for a walk on the beach with one of the other suitors, off camera. All of these are no-no's in Quinn's book.

Rachel finds Serena and talks some sense into her, Everlasting sense. Serena agrees to come back and play the game Quinn's way. She apologizes to the jockey, who she wanted to cut. She drinks and parties with the guys but then disappears right before the elimination ceremony. Rachel finds her in the bathroom having sex with the jockey.

The jockey ends up getting eliminated. All the other suitors she shared a moment with on camera, regardless of how brief, she keeps.

Other stuff
- There's a new psychiatrist on the show, Dr. Simon. I don't know how long he is going to last. Towards the end of the episode he accidentally reveals that he is there not for the show but for Rachel.
- Rachel is trying to stick with the honesty but how long is she going to torture herself. Eventually she is going to go back to her old ways. She has to, right?
- Madison is sleeping with the Gary, the network executive but she is also still working on the show, and spying on Quinn for Gary
- Jeremy tries to get a moment alone to talk with Rachel but he isn't very successful in that endeavor
- Jay is back

I like it. I've heard that this season doesn't measure up to the last two. That might be the case but I like how this season started. It doesn't mean I will feel the same when it is over but I like how it has started.
