Duke Blue Devils at Maryland Terrapins

Maryland was 12-9 (3-5 ACC) and Duke was 18-4 (7-2 ACC) coming into this game. Both teams were coming off of losses. The Blue Devils had won the first match up with the Terrapins 91-80 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The video I watched of this game included all the halftime commentary. There was a brief glimpse of the halftime show which was the University of Maryland's Gymkana club. On the whole the recording of this game was nice and crisp for a YouTube video but not quite good enough to blow up on a big screen TV.

Ki Woo cons his way into a job as a tutor for the 16-year-old daughter of the Parks, a rich couple. He soon gets Ki Jung, his sister, a job as the tutor of the girl's younger brother. Ki Jung gets the Park's driver fired and gets Ki Taek, their father, hired as the Park's new driver. Father, son, and daughter then work together to get Moon Gwang, the housekeeper fired, and Chung Sook, their wife/mother, installed as the new house keeper. They do not reveal their family ties to the rich family. 

The Sopranos 3.06

University

The title of this episode reflects one of the two stories that dominate it. Caitlin, Meadow's roommate at Columbia, is depressed. She is from Iowa. She isn't used to life in New York. She was very perky and upbeat when she first arrived but no more. She intrudes on Meadow and Noah just as they are starting to make out. She's pulling out her hair. She is getting on Meadow's nerves.

The other story is set in the Bada Bing. Ralph is as usual out of control. He is goofing around in a very dangerous way with Georgie, one of the bouncers. Ralph quotes some lines from Gladiator, the Russell Crowe movie, but Georgie didn't see it so he doesn't know what Ralph is talking about. Ralph starts pushing Georgie around. Georgie doesn't fight back because Ralph is a made man. Ralph ends up injuring one of Georgie's eyes before someone finally get Ralph to knock it off.

Georgetown Hoyas vs North Carolina Tarheels

I didn't know a ton about this game going in. I knew about the ending but I didn't know if it was competitive game. One of the stories of this game, which I didn't know prior to watching the semi-final games was that each team had a man from Gastonia, NC. James Worthy of the Tarheels and Eric "Sleepy" Floyd of the Hoyas played against one another in high school. Their teams went as far as the state championship game which Floyd's school won.

The Reach continue their press conferences at the United Nations. The Reach ambassador emphasizes how Blue Beetle saved the world from War World. He also points out that Blue Beetle's powers are Reach technology.

Monsters

Ray is hired to find out what happened to Jenny who disappeared in 1995. Kim, her father, is dying of cancer. She was 13 when she disappeared. The cops thought they had the guy but they couldn't find enough evidence to charge him. Kim wants Ray to do that.

Dennis, the suspected murderer, spent time in prison for molesting or raping kids. Ray finds him, interrogates him, and finds out where he left her body. He brings Kim to see his daughter's remains. Ray is left to deal with Dennis.

Over the Black Light

Shinohara volunteers to fly a captured Gamilan fighter through the gate to Balun on a recon mission. He winds up in the middle of a huge fleet of Gamilan ships. He looks around and takes stock of the situation. Shinohara escapes through the gate and makes his way back to the Yamato.

Commander Okita does what everyone expects least and decides that they need to fly through the gate to Balun. The Yamato arrives and charges through the Gamilan fleet taking out as many ships as it can. It flies into the core of Balun.

Nola's art show finally happens. She gets Mars to help her get her work to the space where the show happens. She asks him to stay outside but when he gets there he goes in anyway. He gets into an argument with Clorinda, whom he once dated. Nola gets there in time to separate Mars and Clorinda. Mars is hurt and he doesn't understand why Nola doesn't want him there.

Nola calls Shemekka only to find out that she is having her debut at the club the same night as the art show. Neither of them can accept the other's situation. They both feel hurt and blame the other. The conversation doesn't end on a friendly note.

Georgetown Hoyas vs. Louisville Cardinals

The Georgetown Hoyas came in to the tournament ranked 6th in the nation and with a record of 29-6. The Hoyas, unlike the Cardinals, won their conference tournament. This was the Hoyas second trip to the Final Four. The first was in 1942 when they lost in the final to Wyoming. The Louisville Cardinals came into this game with a record of 23-9. Louisville had played in the Final Four three times prior to 1982, with the most recent coming in 1980 when the Cardinals won the tournament.

Houston Cougars vs. North Carolina Tarheels

North Carolina returned to the Final Four for the 9th time in 1982. North Carolina had only won the national title once, in 1957. The Tarheels made it all the way to the title game in 1981 but lost to Indiana. Houston was playing in it's third Final Four. The previous two times (1967,1968) the Cougars lost to eventual champion UCLA in the semi-final round.

There is something wrong with the audio on this video. The announcers can be heard clearly but if you listen closely you can hear the lady who announces the time every 10 seconds. Thankfully it doesn't drown out the announcers but it is still annoying.

Complications

Kaldur'ahm has been restored but he continues to pretend in order to protect M'Gann from his father, Black Manta. Artemis, Miss Martian, and Aqualad need a way out. They know that Kaldur can only continue to play brain dead for but so long. Black Manta punctuates the situation by giving Miss Martian 24 hours to cure his or he will kill her.

I Came from Your Balls?

Ray and Gary stake out the home of Vinnie, the guy that Ray was hired to kill in 2.02. The house is very secure. A day later Ray runs into Vinnie when he is buying something to eat. Vinnie doesn't suspect a thing and is happy to see Ray.

Ray and Ally take Brittany and one of her friends to an amusement park. They drive bumper cars, get ice cream, and Ray wins Brittany a stuffed animal. That night Brittany wakes up and hears a slapping sound. She goes into her father's bed room. Ray and Ally were having sex. Brittany can't figure out what's going on so Ray has to tell Brittany about sex. She thinks it sounds really gross.

Reunion

Bow disappears. He left a message but Glimmer is suspicious and insists on looking for him. Adora and Glimmer head into the Whispering Wood. Glimmer admits to Adora that she doesn't know anything about Bow's past.

Nola continues to work at Harriet Tubman Middle School. Racqueletta Moss, the teacher who hired her, has doubts but keeps her on. Racqueletta Moss can see that Nola's heart is in the right place but she questions her methods. Nola gives the kids in the class an assignment to recreate an album cover. She is particularly impressed by one girl's work.

Jamie has to deal with a family crisis. His son made a music video where he and some of his friends performed in white face and used the n-word. It went viral. His son's school, a very expensive prep school, encouraged the students to create a viral video. The headmaster seems very pleased with how it turned out, until he has a sit down meeting with Jamie and Cheryl, Jamie's wife.

Employee of the Month

Dr. Melfi is excited about her break through with Tony. She shares that news with her ex-huband who is possibly more excited that she is but not so much about the breakthrough as much as he is just excited to hear her talk about Tony Soprano. Dr. Melfi's excitement dies when Tony doesn't follow through with a promise he made to her to keep a log of moments he feels anxious.

Ralph takes Jackie, Jr. with him when he goes to collect from one of the businesses that owes him money. The owner gets violently angry so Ralph and Jackie, Jr. beat him up. Tony isn't happy when he hears about it. Tony also takes that opportunity to let Ralph know that he is putting Gigi Cestone in charge of Richie Aprile's old crew. Ralph wanted the job but Tony thinks he's a little too hot headed and too cozy with Rosalie Aprile.

Maryland was 15-10 (2-7 ACC) and North Carolina was 25-2 (9-1 ACC) coming into this game. The Tarheels were the number one team in the country. This was Maryland's first visit to the Smith Center which opened on Jan 18, 1986. The Tarheels had yet to lose a game in their new arena going into this game.

Don't Be a Dickhead

Ray goes to the house of the girl who has been bullying Brittany. Her mother doesn't believe him when he tells her what her daughter has been doing. She threatens to call her brother who is a police officer. Ray backs off but a couple days later he gets a visit from a couple police officers. He refuses to answer questions. They don't have a warrant and tell him that they'll be back.

Ray goes out for drinks with Ally, Gary, and Tatiana, Gary's wife. Tatiana isn't having fun so she brings up Ray's obsession with golden showers. Ray does his best to play along with the lie. He has to explain the situation to Ally afterwords. It was Gary's porn but Ray said it was his as a favor to Gary back in 1.01.

Light Spinner

Hordak wants Catra to get rid of Shadow Weaver. Catra objects which angers Hordak. He's got a new bestie, Entrapta. He gives Catra two days to get information out of Shadow Weaver, after which she needs to send her to Beast Island.

#LuvIzLuv (SEXUALITY IS FLUID)

Nola starts a cleanse which includes cleansing herself of men. She starts up a relationship with a Opal Gilstrap, a friend with whom she almost had a relationship a couple years earlier. Opal is drawn to Nola but she isn't a free spirit like Nola.

Nola starts a new job, teaching art. The night before her first day on the job she goes out with Terrell, a guy friend. It's his parents anniversary and she is his date. Terrell is gay and has yet to come out to his parents. Nola gets home late and can't find her keys. She winds up staying at Opal's place for the night.

North Carolina Tarheels @ Maryland Terrapins

It was Gary Williams' first year as head coach of the basketball team. Previously he had been the head coach at Ohio State, Boston College, and American University. Maryland had a pretty abysmal record the year before. They were off to a good start in the 1989-90 season. They were 8-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Terrapins had not beat North Carolina at Cole Field House since 1983.

For the most part the video was clear although everyone in a while the tape would pause for a few seconds and when it would restart it would have skipped ahead and missed a play or two.

Another Toothpick

Vito Spatafore's nephew gets put into a coma. The man who did it is Mustang Sally. It was a crime of passion but that doesn't matter to Vito or Tony. Gigi Cestone is the captain responsible for dealing with the situation and he suggests to Tony that Bobby Baccalieri, Sr. should be the one to handle the job. He is Mustang Sally's godfather. Bobby, Jr. isn't too happy about the decision and tries to get Uncle Junior to intercede on his behalf.

Tony brings Carmela to one of his sessions with Dr. Melfi. It doesn't go well. Carmela takes most of Dr. Melfi's questions as personal attacks. Tony and Carmela get into an argument in the car after the session, while they are driving home. Tony gets a speeding ticket. He tries to get the cop to look the other way but he won't.

Maryland Terrapins vs NC State Wolfpack

NC State was the top ranked team in the country and had won 31 consecutive conference games coming into the championship game. Maryland was playing in their 3rd consecutive ACC championship game. North Carolina won the tournament in 1972 and NC State was the winner in 1973. No team had ever lost three consecutive ACC championship games. NC State had it a bit easier coming into this game. Maryland had to play two games to get to the championship. NC State finished the regular season first in the conference and only had to play one game in the tournament prior to this one.

I had never seen this game before but I had heard about it. At this time only the conference champion, the winner of the conference tournament, got to go to the national tournament. It was games like this that led the NCAA to change the rules and include teams that didn't win their conference championships.

Shoulda Tapped

Ray does a bunch of stuff. He helps a friend with whom he was sparring by helping to teach part of his class. He winds up getting put in a choke hold and passes out. Everyone is standing around him when he comes to.

Ray takes Brittany, his daughter, to school. She's having trouble with another girl who is cyber bullying her. Ray tries talking to her about it and about how to deal with bullies.

White Out

Catra, Scorpia, and Entrapta are in the snowy Northern Reaches looking for First Ones technology when She-Ra, Glimmer, Bow, and Sea Hawk show up. Catra is freezing cold and doesn't want to be there. Scorpia has a big crush on Catra and is trying to work up the nerve to ask her out. Entrapta is consumed by the search for First Ones technology.
