Movies

I've looked back over the list of movies that I watched in 2022. I have a few thoughts.

• I watched 57 movies in 2022. That's a new high for me but not significantly than my previous count for a single calendar year. I plan to shoot for 60 in 2023. Hopefully I will at least be in the ballpark of 60 at year end.
• I watched at least 2 movies from every decade from the 1930s to the 2020s. I hope to continue that trend in 2023 and maybe bump that up to at least 3 movies per decade. I got to one movie per decade by mid-year. I hope to do that again.
• I only watched one foreign language film (Dogtooth) in 2022. Maybe that should be 1.5 movies because there is a fair amount of Okja that is in Korean. Either way, I want to watch more foreign language films in 2023. I think a minimum of six is a good goal. I might hit a higher number but I think that is a reasonable goal considering how few I watched in 2022.
• I didn't watch any animated films in 2022. I watched plenty of anime and cartoons but I want to watch some animated movies in 2023.
• I rewatched 27 movies in 2022 that I had seen prior to 2022. They breakdown by release decade as follows: 2000s (1), 1990s (8), 1980s (2), 1950s (1), 1940s (1), 1930s (4). The vast majority of those movies I had not seen in over 20 years. There is probably no more than a handful that I had seen in the last 10 years.
• I watched 5 documentaries in 2022. I should probably try to shoot for a higher number in 2023 but considering that my goal for 2023 is 60 movies total I don't think I want to aim higher than 6 documentaries in 2023. I am not counting documentaries on Doctor Who DVDs that I watch. They fall into the television category as far as I am concerned.

Other Goals

• There are two years from within my lifetime (1971, 2005) and several years from the 20 years before my lifetime (1952, 1954, 1956, 1957, 1959, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969) that are not represented by at least one movie in my blog because I have not watched any movies from those years since I started this blog. I would like to watch at least one movie from each of the two years within my lifetime in 2023. I would like to make a dent in the list of years from the 20 years before my lifetime.

There are some shows that I watched just an episode or two of that I haven't bothered to list but they can be found in the blog. Doctor Who is the show that I watched most consistently with Phil Silvers probably running a close second.
