Straighten It Out
Luke is still stunned over the fact that a Judas bullet didn't hurt him. Bobby Fish arranges for a test of his abilities. They don't test Luke's invulnerability. Instead they test his speed, strength, and leaping abilities. A crowd gathers during the tests which happen on an open field. A couple of the observers are ESPN reporters, Jemele Hill and Michael Smith. I'm familiar with them from a couple podcasts appearances.
Luke's father stops by the barber shop but Luke still isn't interested in talking. James Lucas still insists on calling Luke by the name he gave him at birth, Carl.
Misty goes back to work but isn't allowed to do as much as she wants to. She is locked out of interrogating Arturo Rey but she slips in to talk to him anyway. Captain Ridenhour, her boss, isn't too happy when he finds out about that just as Rey is getting out on bail.
Mariah's publicity agent talks her into trying to make amends with Tilda, her daughter. She goes to visit her but all does not go as well as she had hoped. There's clearly some bad blood between them. At this point it is more to Mariah's benefit than it is to Tilda's for them to make up and let bygones be. Tilda later gets a visit from Bushmaster. She is a doctor and runs a shop where she sells non-prescription medicine. Bushmaster needs more of what makes him bulletproof. His source has dried up but a friend has pointed him to Mariah's daughter.
Shades pays Arturo Rey a visit, after he gets out of prison. Shades takes his right hand man, Comanche with him. Arturo gets mouthy and isn't being cooperative. Shades doesn't lose it until Arturo starts making fun of Shades relationship with Mariah. Shades kills him. Mariah isn't happy to hear the news, primarily because they need the money that Rey was going to give them.
The episode ends with a musical montage in Mariah's club. Tilda comes to visit Mariah to make amends. Shades doesn't like being pushed aside. Claire goes to see Luke's father preaching, after she gets into an argument with Luke. Luke gets a call telling where he can find Cockroach and what he's up to. In a blind rage he fights with cockroach and might have killed him.
The highlight of this show continues to be how it is made, the look, and the feel of it. I'm not as crazy about the acting, characters, or plot as how they are presented. I love the music.
