Ritual-licious
It's Casey's birthday. She doesn't want a party but Elsa throws one for her anyway. It is supposed to be a secret but someone spoils the secret part of it.
Sam begins Casey's day with one of several birthday rituals. At first it doesn't annoy Casey, too much, but eventually the rituals really start to get on her nerves.
Sam makes out with Bailey, at school. She isn't at the party. She tells him he can tell people he is making out with someone as long as he doesn't them whom it is. Zahid is at the party and gets Sam to reveal that he's been making out with someone. Sam won't give him a name. Zahid assumes that it is Paige, who is also at the party. He tries talking to Paige about it but quickly realizes that he made a mistake. Paige winds up leaving the party in a huff.
Elsa invites the girls track team from Clayton Prep to the party. Casey flips out when she sees them there. She yells at her mother and then goes up to her room. Izzy comes up after her. They share a very close moment. Izzy apologizes and says she doesn't care about her boyfriend and doesn't want to lose Casey. Casey and Izzy almost kiss, or at least that's where it looks like it was going right before Elsa comes bursting into the room.
Elsa and Doug had sex the night before the party. It was a little too soon. Doug isn't ready to get back together with Elsa. He is distant. He starts imagining he sees Nick, the guy, Elsa had an affair with. Elsa keeps trying to get close but he keeps pulling away. The episode ends with him stalking Nick.
There were moments when I was watching this that I wasn't digging it but in the end it felt like it all paid off. I was very happy with this episode. It is much more about Casey than Sam. There are some good moments here. I can't wait to see the final episode of the season.
