I first saw Fargo (the movie) in the theater when it was first released. It was not the first Coen Brothers film or the first of their films that I saw. I enjoyed it very much. I have seen it at least once (Sep 2015) since I saw it in the theater in 1997.
Television Show
Season 1 mostly took place in 2006 in Minnesota. It starred Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Alison Tolman, Colin Hanks. I watched season 1 in late 2015 to early 2016. I did not blog about this season when I watched it.
Season 2 took place in 1979 in Minnesota and South Dakota. It starred Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Jessie Plemons, Kirsten Dunst, Jean Smart. I watched season 2 in early 2018.
Season 3 took place in 2010 in Minnesota. It starred Carrie Coon, Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, David Thewlis. I watched season 3 in late 2019 to early 2020.
Season 4 took place in 1950 in Kansas City. It starred Chris Rock, Jessie Buckley, Jason Schwartzman. Ben Wishaw, Jack Huston, Salvatore Esposito, E'myri Crutchfield. I watched season 4 in late 2020.
Season 5 took place in late 2019 in Minnesota and North Dakota. It starred Juno Temple, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Jason Leigh, David Rysdahl, Joe Keery, Lamorne Morris, Richa Moorjani, Sam Spruell, Dave Foley. I watched season 5 in early 2025.
I strongly recommend Bald Move's Fargo podcast. I don't always agree with them but I find their insights and commentary to be quite valuable.
