Living at an Angle
Sam completes his portfolio and submits an application to the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). He is very excited about it until he realizes that if he is accepted he will have to move far away, and live on a hill. He misplaces his portfolio and goes a little nuts before he gets a chance to interview for RISD.
Casey has to ace her biology test or else she will lose her scholarship to Clayton Prep. She tries studying but can't seem to focus. She finds out about Sam's dilemma after he misplaces his portfolio. She tries to help him find it. She gets frustrated with Sam when they can't find it. Casey accuses Sam of throwing it away because he is nervous about moving away.
Sam eventually gets the portfolio back, in time for the interview. One of the individuals from group therapy took it. She thought she was doing Sam a favor. This is after Doug went on a date with her mother.
Doug moves forward with his idea for a training course in autism for first responders. Elsa and Doug go to Julia to get some information for the class. Elsa takes that opportunity to admit to what she did (with Nick, the bartender) to Julia. Julia makes some faces that make it clear that she isn't comfortable talking about it but Elsa keeps talking until Julia kicks them out of her office.
Doug eventually comes around and suggests that maybe they could try couples therapy. The episode ends with Elsa jumping in the shower with Doug.
Usually I get Sam. This time I felt like I didn't or at least like I had trouble empathizing with him. I was a little surprised by Doug's reaction to Elsa at the very end of the episode. I thought that maybe it was too soon.
