Rickmancing the Stone
Jerry moves out. He and Beth ended their marriage. Morty says goodbye to their father but Summer doesn't won't even look at him as he leaves. Instead she asks Rick to take them on an adventure. They wind up in a Mad Max styled world. They are there to steal a really valuable element, which is Rick's idea, of course.
Summer disrupts everything by killing the leader of the tribe that is pursuing them. Instead of getting angry the tribe invites them to join the tribe. They do and for a short while things are okay. Rick wants to steal a really big hunk of the valuable element. Towards that end he injects Morty with something he extracts from a severed arm. Morty's left arm gets huge and acts on its own. Morty can't control it. It is a killing machine.
Rick returns home without Morty and Summer. He makes robot versions of Summer and Morty to fool Beth. She senses that something is off but she doesn't guess the truth of the situation. Rick eventually throws in the towel and goes back for his grandchildren.
This is a crazy violent episode. Morty's giant arm kills a lot of people. Summer goes off the deep end. Eventually they return home, after being gone for a few weeks. Summer goes to visit Jerry. She brings him the skull of the first mutant she killed.
I really enjoyed this episode. It is felt a little more focused than the last one. It is also self-contained, unlike the last one. It has a heart and lots of humor, not all of which is probably to everyone's taste.
