The Image Revolution (2014)

directed by Patrick Meaney

Seven of the hottest creators at Marvel comics left in 1991 to form Image comics. The company was extremely popular and successful for the first few years but eventually sales started to slag and internal disputes threatened to tear the company apart. One of the original four left. He was later replaced by another hot creator.

Original Seven - Todd McFarlane, Erik Larsen, Rob Liefeld, Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Jim Valentino, and Whilce Portacio

Replacement Partner - Robert Kirkman

The movie focuses a lot of attention on the early success. Rob Liefeld, the one partner who was forced out, probably does as much talking as anyone. McFarlane, Silvestri, and Larsen also do a fair amount of talking.

The movie doesn't focus much on the period after things started to fizzle, in the mid to late 1990s. Robert Kirkman's success is highlighted but there aren't any other recent successes discussed.
