Pierrot Le Fou
Spike becomes the target of a super-powered hit man after he stumbles across him just after he killed some mobsters. Spike just barely escapes. He is badly injured but that doesn't stop him from accepting a challenge from the hit man.
Jet and Ed look into the background of the hit man and learn all about him. Mad Pierrot was part of an experiment conducted by Section 13 of the ISSP. He trained to be a killer but then was judged to be too dangerous. He was supposed to be locked up for life after that but easily escaped.
Spike heads to Space Land, an old amusement park, to meet Mad Pierrot. Once again he is for the most part outclassed. Faye shows up but doesn't have anymore success than Spike initially does. In the end it seems to be Pierrot's damaged mind that proves his undoing.
This is a trippy episode. I remembered it quite well. The truth behind Pierrot is only partly explained. The music is as always superb. Everyone gets to play a part in the story although Spike gets the bulk of the alone time with Pierrot.
This episode probably won't work for everyone. I like how it builds a story around a peek into one character's background. It leaves lots of questions unanswered but I love it. I especially like how it is told and the way it works in the personalities of the main characters.
