Se-ri and Jeong-hyuk return to his place. They are passed, on the way there, by a car carrying Goo Seung-joon. He sees Se-ri and thinks she looks familiar.
Se-ri and Jeong-hyuk find Seo Dan waiting for them. She needs a ride home. Jeong-hyuk offers to drive her. He gives Seo Dan the same cover story that he has given everyone else about Se-ri, that she is a secret agent who is working with him. Seo Dan shrugs it off.
Seo Dan and Jeong-hyuk talk on the way back to her place. It is just their seventh meeting in as many years. She has been in Russia studying. They find her mother and her uncle waiting for them. Seo Dan's mother insists that Jeong-hyuk stay for dinner.
Se-ri is inside Jeong-hyuk's house when she hears a knock at the door. It is the women of the village. They know about Seo-dan. Two of them met her earlier in the episode. They are there to commiserate with Se-ri over Jeong-hyuk's two-timing of her.
Jeong-hyuk leaves Seo Dan's mother's place after dinner and goes to visit his parents. His father wants him to get married to Seo Dan. He agrees to but he wants something in return.
Jeong-hyuk returns to his house the next morning. Se-ri is angry at him. She changes her mood once he tells her about he has gotten her a place on a track and field team that is leaving for Europe in a few days.
They have to get her a passport. She needs some new clothes and a new haircut. She gets some help from the women of the village taking care of both things. She pawns her watch when she sees something she wants. She doesn't get as much for it as she thinks it is worth.
She sees a watch in the pawn shop, a men's watch. It catches her eye.
Jeong-hyuk finds out that his men (who know about Se-ri) have been arrested. He steps in but by then they have all been given the once over, although they haven't revealed anything about Se-ri.
Jeong-hyuk and Se-ri take the train to Pyongyang. It is only supposed to be a two hour train ride but there are problems with the train so it takes an extra fifteen hours to get there. They wind up spending the night together under the stars outside the train. Seung-joon is also on the train.
Se-ri gets her passport photo taken. She tries to suggest to Jeong-hyuk that they should get a picture of them taken together but he brushes off the idea.
The episode ends with Se-ri running into Seung-joon. He grabs her and pulls her into an elevator but Jeong-hyuk shows up just as the elevator doors are closing.
Thoughts
Why did they take the train to Pyongyang? I think it was a plot device. I don't think it was necessary. They probably could have driven there. The same goes for Seung-joon.
Jeong Man-bok, who works for Jo Cheol-gang, and has been listening to the conversations picked up by the listening device planted in Jeong-hyuk's house. He seems to be having serious second thoughts. It also becomes clear that he knew Jeong-hyuk's brother and had something to do with his murder although presumably Jo Cheol-gang was the one behind it all.
The men's watch that Se-ri saw in the pawn shop looks like it once belonged to Jeong-hyuk's brother. She knows of it but not who it's previous owner was.
I some technical problems watching this episode. I think the fact that I started watching it on my laptop, yesterday, and tried to pick up watching it on my TV ay home might have something to do with the issue.
This was a good episode. It seems to be setting up an impossible situation but I think that is probably pretty standard in a show like this.
