Un Village Français 3.09

Quel est votre nom?
or What Is Your Name?

28 Oct 1941

Yvon is arrested by Marchetti's men after the pharmacist confirms that he was the one who shot the German officers. Marchetti tries interrogating him but Yvon won't even tell him his name. Muller finds out that Marchetti has a prisoner and quickly takes Yvon from Marchetti. He doesn't have any more luck than Marchetti did but he uses much more brutal tactics.

Hortense comes to see Heinrich while he is torturing Yvon. She is shocked but not by what she sees. Someone on the street, a beggar, called her a kraut's whore. That's what is bothering her.

Raymond has words with Cremiux. Raymond tries to get tough with him but Cremieuz doesn't take his concerns seriously. Raymond find Jerome, Servier's nephew, looking around his saw mill and kicks him out. Raymond goes home and finds DeKervern waiting for him. DeKervern is convinced that Raymond knows something about what happened to Caberni. Raymond insists that he doesn't. Jeanine asks him about what going on. She suspects that he is having another affair. He loses his cool and tells her about how and why he killed Caberni.

Gustave decides that he is going to find his father (Marcel), who he thinks has moved to Switzerland. He takes some money from his uncle (Daniel) and buys a bus ticket. Helen Cremieux goes with him. The bus they are on gets stopped by the Germans. Gustave and Helen run off into the woods. Gustave tries crossing a stream and falls in. He starts to feel feverish and lays down.

Suzanne comes for Marcel. Together they try to get out of town but can't find a way. The episode ends with them taking refuge in an abandoned house.

Thoughts

Lucienne, Beriot, Marie, and Judith are not in this episode.

Gustave's story does nothing for me. He's acting stubborn again. He thinks he knows better. It is understandable to some degree but it isn't very compelling stuff.

I was surprised that that Raymond confessed to him wife about killing Caberni. I really didn't expect that.

Marchetti seems to be toughening up a little bit. He started to torture Yvon with a lit cigarette, before Muller came in and dragged the prisoner away. Servier makes Marchetti the new chief of police for Villeneuve.

On the whole this wasn't quite as intense an episode as the previous one. It felt mostly like set up for whatever follows.
