The Television Centre of the Universe (2013)
Part One
Peter Davison, Janet Fielding, and Mark Strickson hang out with Yvette Fielding at Television Centre where Doctor Who used to be filmed. They visit changing rooms, makeup rooms, and talk about their memories of working on Doctor Who in Television Centre. There are also bits of interviews with other people who used to work in Television Centre that are interspersed with the conversations among the four Doctor Who alums.
There is a second part of this documentary but it is included with the DVD for The Underwater Menace, which seems bizarre to me.
Doctor Who audio dramas, mostly from Big Finish, helped to keep the Doctor alive between the cancelation of the classic series and the introduction of the revival. Big Finish was turned down when they first went to the BBC trying to get the license to produce original Doctor Who audio dramas. They convinced the BBC that they knew what they were doing by creating audio dramas centered around Bernice Summerfield, a character who had only appeared in original Doctor Who novels.
Colin Baker was the first of the television Doctors to really sign on. He convinced Peter Davison and Sylvester McCoy to give it a go.
This was a lot of fun. I've listened to a number of the audio dramas from Big Finish. I didn't know the story behind the company. This is the best extra in this DVD set.
