This Missive, This Machination!
Mark starts college with Amber and Will. He rooms with Will, on campus. He has sex with Amber on their first day in the dorm.
Allen the Alien gets a backstory spotlight. His people fought the Viltrumites and lost. Allen was scientifically bred to be superior to the average Unopan but he was never able to defeat a single Viltrumite.
Allen (in the present) meets with Thaedus, leader of the Coalition of Planets, on the planet Telescria. Thaedus tasks Allen with figuring out who is the spy in the coalition's midst. Allen spends some time with Telia, his girlfriend. Allen is approached and almost killed by a trio of Viltrumites before he can even get started on the task Thaedus has asked him to do.
Rex Splode talks to Dupli-Kate. She explains what attracted her to the Immortal. Rudy talks to Amanda. They go to see a horror film together. It is his first movie theater experience.
Debra, Mark's mother, goes to a support group for spouses of super-heroes. She goes out for a drink with one of the guys in the group. She is horrified to discover that his wife was killed by her husband. The night does not end well.
Mark is approached by Nuolzot, a bug like alien who begs for Mark's help. Nuolzot first appears in the form of Seance Dog but eventually reveals his true form. He tells Mark that Thraxa, his planet. is threatened by meteorites. Mark decides to go help the people of Thraza.
He calls Cecil to tell him that he will be gone for a few weeks. Cecil tries to talk him out of going. Mark decides he's going even without Cecil's blessing. When they get to Thraxa Mark is introduced to the planet's ruler, his father, Nolan Grayson.
Thoughts
Angstrom Levy and Atom Eve do not appear in this episode.
There is a faux ending bout halfway thought the episode, after Allen's story seems to end.
Allen has never defeated a Viltrumite and yet he is still alive. How is that possible? How many Viltrumites has he fought? Viltrumites seem to kill or subjugate everyone they meet. How is it possible that Allen is still alive if he has fought lots of Viltrumites?
It seems that Thaedus disconnects the life-support that Allen is hooked up to after his fight with the Viltrumites. So, Thaedus is the traitor? What's his story? Is he a Viltrumite?
Nuolzot claimed that it took him most of his life to get to Earth. When they leave for Thraxa he tells Mark that it will take them six Earth days to get there. Either Nuolzot was lying when he said it took him most of his life to get to Earth or he is extremely short-lived.
Nuolzot does say something about his people aging much faster than humans, after they get to Thraxa. I'm also left wondering if that last scene on Thraxa was a dream.
This was a decent episode. It is definitely setting things up for the mid-season finale, next episode. There are lots of plot threads dangling at the moment.
