Tragic Love! The Northern Pole Aurora
The Arcadia leaves Earth but soon returns when the crew spots something strange going on in the Arctic. It looks like a runway to them. The Arcadia lands and Captain Harlock, Miime, Tadashi, and Kei leave the ship to investigate. Captain Harlock gets separated from the others and meets a Mazone. She captures him and then causes the Arcadia to fall into a crevasse.
Commander Kiruta learns of what has just happened at the North Pole. He personally leads a squadron to the Arctic to destroy the Arcadia and its crew. The Arcadia is stuck and can't move but when the forces of earth start to drop bombs it frees the Arcadia.
Commander Kiruta and his men are forced to flee when the Mazone opens fire on them. Most of his men are killed and only Commander Kiruta seems to survive the counterstrike. Miime goes looking for Captain Harlock. She finds him and kills the Mazone. Together they return to the Arcadia.
Mayu is also in this episode.
I had to laugh at how quickly word makes it to the boarding school where Mayu lives about the Arcadia falling into a crevasse.
It seems that the Mazone in the Arctic was preparing a landing strip for the Mazone fleet.
I'm not sure how Miime defeated and killed the Mazone. She isn't human but its unclear what she is capable of doing.
The Mazone at the North Pole declares her love for Captain Harlock after restraining him. I don't think it was meant as a joke. I thought at first that she was toying with him but on further reflection I think she was serious about how she felt.
