Nick has a new girlfriend, Sara, and she has gotten him into disco. Daniel and Ken show up at the disco, which is in a room at a bowling alley and shout "Disco Sucks!" while Nick is dancing with Sarah. Ken is convinced that the only reason Nick is with Sarah is to make Lindsey jealous.
Mr. Rosso punishes Daniel for trying to pull the fire alarm by making him join the AV club. Sam, Bill, and Neal are all members of the AV club. Neal and Bill have their doubts about Daniel but Sam tries to stick up for him.
Lindsey is selected for Academic Summit at University of Michigan. It is a two week summer camp of sorts for the best and brightest students in Michigan. She doesn't want to go. Mr. Rosso gives her a Grateful Dead album to listen to in the hopes that it will help to mellow her out to the idea of going to Academic Summit.
Lindsey listens to the Grateful Dead album that Mr. Rosso gave her. She really likes the music. It doesn't change her opinion about Academic Summit. She tells her parents how she feel about Academic Summit. Her father doesn't want to hear anything about it.
Ken gets so disgusted by Nick that he drags Lindsey to the disco on the night of a dance contest. Ken wants her to get Nick away from Sara. Ken gets kicked out of the disco by a bouncer. Lindsey talks to Nick but she doesn't want Nick to break up with Sara. She leaves. He goes back to dance with Sara. Nick takes part in the dance contest. He thinks he's doing pretty well until he sees the competition.
Daniel is in the room when the rest of the AV club is talking about Dungeons & Dragons. He starts asking questions about the game. Harris, the Dungeon Master, suggests that Daniel should join them them at their next game night. It takes a little convincing but Daniel agrees.
Lindsey's family takes sees her off at the bus terminal. She catches the bus to University of Michigan but she doesn't go to the Academic Summit. Kim and a couple of their dead head classmates are waiting for her in Ann Arbor. They get in their van and take off for a couple weeks of following the Dead.
Thoughts
Lizzy Caplan plays Sara. This is her fourth and final appearance on Freaks and Geeks. This show is also her first screen work, according to IMDb. I saw her first on Party Down, which lasted for a couple seasons but was only two episodes longer than Freaks and Geeks.
Sam plays a part in this episode but it doesn't feel like that part of the episode just belongs to him. Mr. Rosso assigning Daniel to AV Club as punishment seems but a bit odd but Mr. Rosso is, as revealed in this episode, is a dead head.
The scene at the bowling alley with Nick and Lindsey got me nervous. I really thought for a minute there that he was going to dump Sara and try to get back together with Lindsey. He seemed so unsure of the decision that he made.
This is a bitter sweet episode to watch. The bitter part is because it is the end of the series. There aren't anymore episodes. I got very emotional watching the very ending, mostly because it was the end of the series. I can see myself watching it again but if I do it probably won't be anytime soon.
