Orange Is the New Black 7.09

The Hidey Hole

Piper comes clean with her coworkers. She starts to feel much better. She has a talk with her father, who isn't happy (about her telling her coworkers about her past) but accepts it.

Monica, Cindy's daughter, gets the letter that Tastyee sent. She confronts Cindy and her grandmother, who she thought was her mother, about it. They don't know how to respond. Cindy had just talked her way into a job at an old folks home. Cindy can't take it. She packs her things and leaves.

Morello goes around the bend. Her web page for the baby pictures (that were not of Sterling, her baby who died of pneumonia) gets deleted. She later finds out that it was Vinnie who did it. Morello also gets the backstory spotlight. She had problems back then, too.

Daya, Adeola, and another inmate try to pressure the GED teacher into sneaking stuff into the Litchfield for them. They threaten to harm his children if they don't. He quits rather than capitulate to their demands.

Caputo gets a restraining order from Susan Fischer. He and Fig are still trying to get pregnant. He decides that he needs to tell Warden Ward about it. She just found out that the GED teacher quit. She isn't ready for anymore bad news. Caputo leaves without telling her about Susan Fischer.

Carla, Flores' friend, finds out that she needs to appear in court for a custody hearing or else risk losing custody of her children. She tries to get permission to go but the paperwork required to get permission to go will take to long to process. She doesn't know what to do. Flores promises to help her.

Vause's relationship with McCullough continues. Chapman visits Vause and tries telling her about the random sex she's been having. She doesn't mention Zelda but Vause quickly gets tired of hearing about it.

Nichols and Shani's relationship changes a bit when Shani reveals that when she was twelve she was the victim of female genital mutilation and that her mother was the one who authorized it. Nichols doesn't know how to respond at first but by the end of the episode they are talking again.

The episode ends with Morello running through the hallways of Litchfield. The COs notice that she is missing and put Litchfield into lockdown. Morello wanders though what looks like one of the lower levels, finds a door that leads outside, and goes through it.

Thoughts

Suzanne and Aleida were not in this episode.

All sorts of drama in this one. Lots of things come undone. It isn't an upbeat episode. There are a number of secrets exposed, but not all of them.

I was a little surprised that Cindy doesn't seem to have a parole officer.

What next? Lots of things seem to be headed downhill. Is Morello going to kill herself? What will Daya do now that the GED teacher is out of the way? How will the GED teacher's disappearance affect Doggett?

Will Flaca continue to play pranks on the ICE dentention officer she has nicknamed ClitvaK? Will he ever catch on to who is playing the pranks? Will Caputo's situation deteriorate more than it already has? Will Nichols and Shani get separated? Will Cindy return home?

So many questions and just four episodes left.
