The Thirteenth

Morello is found in  the chicken coop with a dead chicken. She is sedated and held in the infirmary for a day or two and is then returned to gen pop.

Red cuts her hand and has to go to the infirnary. Nichols tells the doctor that there is something wrong with Red. The doctor exmines her and determines that she is in the early stage of dementia. Red asks that Nichols be trusted with caring for her.

The GED teacher is replaced by Luschek. He is more than willing to help Daya smuggle drugs into Litchfield.

Aleida tries to flex some muscle but gets nowhere.

Caputo has a breakthrough in his restorative justice class but then comes to terms with what he did to Susan Fischer. He tells Ward about it and offers to quite. Ward agrees that he needs to quit.

Suzanne finds out about the dead chicken and assumes that the 13th chicken must have killed it. She locks it up away from the other chickens but then another chicken turns up dead.

Taystee continues to tutor Doggett. Two of the inmates in Doggett's class ask if they can join the tutoring sessions.

Vause continues her relationship with McCullough. Vause gets the backstory spotlight. It is all about the relationship she was in before she met Chapman and how she met Chapman.

Zelda encourages Piper to reach out to Larry and she does. Piper and Zelda wind up having dinner with Larry and Polly. It goes well but Piper ignores a call she gets from Alex in the middle of dinner. She tries calling Alex later but Alex ignores her call.

Thoughts

It feels like a number of things are getting forced or fast forwarded. Its hard for me to predict or care where things are going to land when it feels like they are being rushed. I don't hate this episode but I don't love it. It is a flawed episode.
