The Mind of Evil - Part Two

Jo comes in and finds the Doctor writhing in pain. The Doctor slowly recovers and explains what happened to him. Captain Yates arrives soon afterwards. He takes the Doctor to see the Brigadier. Jo stays at Stangmoor. The Doctor gives her instructions to make sure that the warden has the room with the device locked up.

Sergeant Benton follows Captain Chin Lee but loses her when he suddenly gets a throbbing headache. He reports back in to the Brigadier who is very disappointed. The Doctor arrives at the Brigadier’s office. He tries to tell the Brigadier about the problems at Stangmoor with the device. The Brigadier is more concerned about the World Peace Conference and the death of the Chinese general.

The Doctor and the Brigadier go to see Fu Peng, the leader of the Chinese delegation. The Doctor impresses Fu Peng by speaking to him Hokies, a dialect of Chinese. The two men sit, drink tea, and chat. The Brigadier doesn’t get a word in edgewise.

A pistol is smuggled into the prison for Mailer, a prisoner. Once he gets his hands on it (and the timing is right) he uses it to start something.

Captain Chin Lee meets with the Master. He gives her orders to kill Senator Alcott, the American delegate at the Peace Conference. She lures Senator Alcott to a room in the hotel where everyone is staying. He thinks that Fu Peng would like to meet with him. She turns off the lights once he is in the room and uses a similar sort of device as was used on the Doctor, Sergeant Benton, and others. The episode ends with the Senator crying out in pain.

Thoughts

This episode ended with someone writhing in pain, as did the previous one.

Katy Manning joins the crew on the commentary track for this episode. She is, as she was on the commentary track for Terror of the Autons, very excited to be there. 

It’s a little unclear what the range is for the device. It was in the same room when it was used on some people, like the Doctor, but in other cases it was far away, like when it was used on Sergeant Benton. 

The Master finally arrives on the scene but has yet to interact with anyone other than Captain Chin Lee. Other than that there were no interesting developments in this episode.
