Nobody Beats the Biebs
One episode, two settings, three stories. I really like the mix of humor and drama in this episode. They joke about things that are quite serious and make points at the same time.
Darius goes to the gun range with a poster of a dog. After firing off a magazine of bullets at it he gets accosted by some white guys who think its wrong to be shooting at dogs. Darius gets some support from some Mexican guys but their rhetoric goes a little further than he feels comfortable. He winds up getting kicked out of the range for unspecified reasons.
Earn and Alfred go to a celebrity basketball fundraiser. Alfred plays on a team with other local celebrities. He ends up going one-on-one against Justin Bieber. I thought Bieber was white but in the world of Atlanta he's black. There's probably a message there. Alfred and Bieber end up getting into a fight on the court. Bieber manages to improve his image after the incident but Alfred is still a relative unknown.
Earn is mistaken for an agent named Alonzo by another agent. She's an older white woman. She gets him into the reception that's exclusively for agents. She turns on him toward the end of the episode. She's angry about something Alonzo did. He finally owns up to the fact that he isn't Alonzo but that doesn't seem to deter her from threatening him.
I loved the hat turn joke and the reaction to it. So absurd. There some good social commentary in Darius story. Overall a damn good episode.
