Doctor Who (1963) 11.03.02

Death to the Daleks - Part Two

The Dalek weapons don't work. It turns out that they are there for the same reason as the humans, they need the cure for the disease that is ravaging the galaxy. The Daleks reluctantly agree to work with the humans until they can get their devices and their ship to work and get off the planet.

The Daleks, the humans, and the Doctor go to examine the spot where the humans have been gathering the precious cure to the disease. They are attacked by a large group of Exillons. Captain Railton and one of the Daleks are killed. Galloway takes charge but they have no choice but to surrender. They are taken to the Exxilons underground lair.

They see Sarah about to get sacrificed. The Doctor intervenes and saves her but then they are all locked up. Galloway decides that he's had enough and that their mission is more important that the lives of the the Doctor and Sarah.

The Doctor and Sarah are taken to be sacrificed. A couple more Daleks show up with weapons that work. The Daleks attack the Exxilons. The Doctor and Sarah escape in the confusion created by the attack.

Galloway agrees to work with the Daleks. The Doctor and Sarah explore the lower caverns. They separate, at the Doctor's suggestion, and are approached individually by creatures living at the lower levels of the caverns, as the episode ends.

Thoughts

I'm not as impressed or pleased with this episode as I was the previous. The supporting cast don't get very much to do. The number of Daleks seems to increase without much in the way of explanation. The dialogue isn't terribly clever. Galloway decides to show his true colors. The Daleks invent some new weapons or at least outfit themselves with weapons that aren't affected by the loss of power. I hope the next installments surprise me and get better than this one but I don't have my fingers crossed.
