Dark star Vega X3 Threatens to destroy Vega. The Emperor of Vega (Vega Daio) responds by using beams to push it away from Vega and toward Earth. Great storms arise at the dead star approaches Earth. Professor Umon analyzes the dead star and determines that they have to act fast to save Earth. He plans to send a nuclear missile to blow up the dark star before it reaches Earth.

Lady Gandal anticipates that Grendizer will attempt to prevent the dark star from crashing into Earth and sends Commander Garilla in a saucer beast to keep Grendizer busy. Duke Fleed and Grendizer take on the saucer beast by themselves. The saucer beast has an electric grip which is almost too much for Grendizer and Duke Fleed.

Kouji, Maria, and Hikaru launch in Double Spazer, Drill Spazer, and Marine Spazer. They join the fight and keep the saucer beast busy which gives Duke Fleed a chance to recover. Together they defeat and destroy the aucer beast.

Grendizer helps to speed the nuclear missile to the dark star before it enters the Earth's atmosphere. The disaster is averted.

Thoughts

One thing I don't understand, that I didn't mention above, is the fact that Vega is still under threat at the end of the episode because Earth was not destroyed or ravaged by the dead star. Huh? This makes no sense to me. Weird!

This makes two episodes in a row that Lady Gandal has appeared.

Maria seems to be just as impulsive as Kouji used to be.

Kouji, Maria, and Hikaru have their own little route to their space ships, which I don't recall seeing before. I expect they will show that again in future episodes.

This is an okay episode but too much of it is about stopping the dead star from crashing into Earth. It looks like there may be some sort of change in the status quo next episode, which is also the final episode of the season.
