Haters Back Off 2.08

broadway or buts

Miranda arrives in New York City with Kelly, her father. It turns out that there has been a misunderstanding. The theater that invited them is only offering them tickets to a show and not the chance to perform. Miranda and Kelly go to the show. Miranda gets on stage anyway and makes a big splash. An agent shows interest in signing her.

Things aren't going well at home while Miranda is in New York. Emily still can't get over how her father stopped showing an interest in her and her art. Uncle Jim starts tearing up the walls of the house looking for a bag of money that he claims he hid there. Patrick goes on a date with Amanda but he can't stop thinking of Miranda.

Miranda goes on a morning talk show and bombs big time. The agent starts to lose interest in her but still offers her a deal. Kelly wants her to sign but she's not interested. She thinks the deal and the agent and her father are stupid. She returns home only to discover that Bethany, Emily, and Uncle Jim have moved out. Kelly is there waiting for her. He chews her out and insists that she return to New York City and sign with the agent. She is saved by Bethany, Uncle Jim, and Emily who return just in time to give Kelly what he deserves.

Thoughts

I enjoyed this, the final episode of the series. It had the usual mix of humor and pathos. I'm not sure if I'm good with the easy way that Miranda and Patrick reconciled but the show is a bit surrealistic. The scene at the theater felt a bit off or at least unlike the show usually does. For a moment there it felt like an actual live show instead of a staged setting. I'm glad I watched this show. It isn't great and I wouldn't recommend it to most people but I got a enough of a kick out of it to feel like it was worth my time.
