The Sopranos 2.07

D-Girl

Christopher's cousin introduces him to Amy, his girlfriend, who works for Jon Favreau. Amy wants to see one of Chris' scripts but he threw them all out. Adriana finds a copy of one that she kept and he takes it with him. He accompanies Amy to the set of a movie that Favreau is producing. He gets a chance to chat with Jon and after the shoot he shows them around town.

Anthony Junior scrapes up his mother's car. His parents come down hard on him. They really ratchet up the pressure when he starts questioning God and life. Tony turns to Dr. Melfi and Pussy for advice on how to deal with his son. He doesn't get much in the way of advice that he sees as useful.

Adriana gets angry with Christopher when she finds out that he went to the set and met Jon Favreau without her. Their relationship gets a bit rocky while Chris tries getting Amy and Jon interested in his script. Amy is very taken by Chris and they wind up having sex, more than once. It doesn't get Chris anywhere. He has a weird one-on-one conversation with Jon, it starts out pretty normal but Chris gets a little too playfully aggressive. Things don't end well with Amy.

Pussy's FBI handler talks him into wearing a wire to AJ's confirmation and the party afterwards. His marriage to Angie takes another hit when they get into a fight when they are getting ready to go to the ceremony. He's tense about wearing the wire. She wants into the bathroom. He refuses to let her in. It gets ugly for a minute.

The episode ends with two moments at the party after the confirmation ceremony. Pussy breaks down in tears in private. His FBI handler hears it all but it isn't clear yet what he thinks of it. Tony gives Christopher an ultimatum. He wants him to abandon his show biz dreams or leave. The final scene is Christopher walking back into the house as the credits start rolling.

Janeane Garofalo and Sandra Bernhard play the leads on the set of the movie that Christopher visits. They have very little screen time, considerably less than Jon Favreau. This was a Tony light episode. He was in it but he was more of a supporting character than a main one. Silvio, Paulie, and Uncle Junior do not appear in this episode.

Thoughts

This is a good episode. There are a lot of good character moments in it. I can see how it might disappoint some people who like this show for the violence and the mob related stuff.

I just realized that I skipped an episode by mistake.
