Mr. Inbetween 1.05

Hard Worker

Ray and Gary are planning a heist. They ask Nick to help them out. He's up for it but he's secretly a cop. Ray catches him making a phone call. They take him out to the boonies. It looks like they might kill him but Ray decides to let him go. Nick claims that he doesn't have anything on them.

Ray has a chat with Freddy the next day. He tells him about Nick. Ray gets nabbed by a couple of tough guys on his way back to his car. They cuff him. They have orders to deliver him to Davros. He offers them money to let him go, $162K AUD. They're interested so he shows them where the money is located.

The money is in a small safe. Ray doesn't have the combination memorized. He suggests they get a blow torch. The put him in the trunk of the car and drive to a hardware store. Dave, the leader, goes into the hardware store to buy a blow torch. Bobby, the other goon, is supposed to keep an eye on Ray but instead he leaves the car to get some smokes. The two men get back to the parking lot outside the hardware store only to discover that the car is gone.

Thoughts

This show gets darker and darker. I knew Ray would survive, he's the star of the show. I wasn't as certain about Nick although I'm not too surprised that Ray let him go. It feels like something he might do.

This episode felt considerably more focused than the previous ones. It is also the first to end on a cliffhanger. I liked the banter between Ray and Dave.
