Mr. Inbetween 1.04

On Behalf of Society

Ray gets a present from Gary, an automatic pistol.

Ray goes for a sit down with Davros, the bloke who's guys he beat up after they put Gary in the hospital. It doesn't go very well. Freddy is there and tries to get Ray to accept Davros' explanation but he doesn't really.

Ray goes to a group therapy meeting. The leader tries to get him to explain why he does what he does, beat up people. Ray's explanation in a round about sort of way is that it is for the good of society. The group leader response (see episode title) seems sarcastic.

Ray scares Ally after he gets into it with a couple guys who are blocking his car. It doesn't last more than 30 seconds. The guys take off when they see how serious Ray is. Ally doesn't know how to respond to what she just saw.

Ally gets to meet Brittany for the first time. They talk about unicorns. Brittany asks her if she is going to marry her father. Ally isn't sure how to respond to the question other than to tell her that she doesn't know.

Ray spots a vehicle outside his home later that night. Ally is in bed asleep. Ray sneaks out and takes off in his car. The other vehicle plus another one follow him. Ray gets ahead of them and sets a trap. He kills the men in the two vehicles who probably work for Davros.

Thoughts

I guess it was inevitable that Ally would eventually get to see Ray's dark side. Will she stick around?

It is hard to see where this season is going. Ray is going to survive. He's the star of the show but how will the world around him fare? Will it seem too crazy the way things go in order for him to survive?

I'm still into this show. I like the way it is shot and the music. I'm not sure that I am rooting for Ray. He is definitely flawed.
