Better Call Saul 3.10

Lantern

The episode opens with a flashback to Chuck and Jimmy camping out

Kim is taken to the hospital. She has a broken arm and lots of cuts on her face. Jimmy comes to see her and takes her home afterwards. They talk about the office. They agree to find someone else to whom they can sublet the place. Kim tries to work from home but then she has second thoughts and refers the Gatwood Oil work to Schweikart & Cokely. She stays home and watches DVDs.

Chuck meets with the partners of HHM. He wants to stay on. Howard goes for option number 2 and buys Chuck out. Chuck doesn't know what to say but he goes along with it. He goes home. Jimmy stops by to see him. Jimmy wants to apologize but Chuck brushes him off and says something very hurtful.

Nacho takes Hector to meet his father. Nacho's father very reluctantly accepts Don Hector's money.

Jimmy tries to make things better between the Sandpiper Crossing residents that he drove apart (last episode). Everything he does makes it worse. He finally figures out what to do. He gets some help from Erin Brill, one of the attorneys from Davis & Main. He "accidentally" reveals what he did, how he manipulated the Sandpiper Crossing residents. They don't want to have anything to do with him once they are done.

Chuck turns off the power but the power meter is still running. The power company can't send anyone out for a few days. Chuck tries to find the source of the power. He tears his place apart. He destroys the power meter when he can't find the source.

Hector meets with a representative of Don Eladio and Gus. Nacho is also present. Don Eladio's man is there to make it clear that all drugs will now be smuggled in via Gus's operation. Hector gets angry and has an attack. He tries taking his medication but it doesn't do him any good. One of his men calls for an ambulance.

The episode ends with Chuck alone in his house. The place is a mess. He kicks the table that his lantern is on until it falls on the floor and sets the building on fire.

Thoughts

Mike is not in this episode.

Chuck is presumably dead and Hector Salamanca presumably had a stroke. What next?

Could have been better. I'm not crazy about this ending. I wasn't looking to continue watching the show right away and this episode doesn't leave me wanting more. It feels like a series finale of sorts or at the very least like an inflection point in this series.

I like the show well enough. I will be back for more but it will probably be several months to a year before I start in on the next season.
