Krill
Captain Ed Mercer and Lieutenant Terry Molloy are tasked by Adniral Ozawa with an espionage mission. They fly a captured Krill shuttle into Krill territory. Their objective is to obtain a copy of in Anhkana, the Krill holy book. They are given devices that make them look Krill.
Mercer and Molloy make contact with a Krill warship. They claim to be the only survivors of another Krill warship. They are welcomed by the captain and invited to join a Krill worship ceremony.
Mercer and Molloy fool most of the Krill but Sazeron, the high priest, is suspicious of them. They sneak into the ship's place of worship at night. They start to take images of the pages of the Anhkana. They are about halfway done when they are forced to hide. Someone comes down to inspect the space of worship. The devices that make them look Krill start to malfunction.
Mercer and Molloy search the ship and find the power source that is interfering with their disguise devices. It is a neutron bomb that the Krill are planning to use on a peaceful world. Mercer and Molloy try to come up with a plan to stop the Krill's plan.
I could be wrong but it felt like there were a couple nods to the original Star Wars film in this episode.
The other members of the crew of the Orville are in this episode but only at the beginning and the end of it.
Mercer and Molloy were on a very serious mission but this episode was very funny. I loved how Mercer and Molloy bumbled their way through just about every encounter they had on the Krill ship. The episode does end on a serious note which seems to foreshadow future encounters with the Krill.
