The Real Folk Blues (Part 2)
Spike reunites with Julia. She wants to run away with him. He wants to deal with Vicious. They aren't given much of a choice. Syndicate killers come after them. Spike and Julia fight back. They take out a number of syndicate men but Julia is killed.
Spike visits the Bebop. He gets a bite to eat. He tells Jet that the food tastes terrible, as always. Faye confronts Spike before he leaves. She tells him that she remembers her past now but she's discovered that there's nothing left of it for her. She tries to get him to stay but he leaves anyway. What he says to Faye about his eyes before he leaves the Bebop reveals him to be much more sentimental than his cool demeanor suggests.
Spike attacks the crime syndicate's headquarters. He deals with Vicious' men with a little bit of help from Shin. Shin doesn't survive the fight. He is killed before Spike gets to Vicious. Spike and Vicious fight on the top floor the syndicate's headquarters. Spike wins but dies soon thereafter from his wounds.
Thoughts
I love this series but I don't love that it ends the way it does. There are bits of that I like about this final two-part story but on the whole it left me feeling a bit empty. Everything isn't wrapped up neatly with a bow. I didn't need it to be. There is poetry to the ending of Spike's story.
In general when it comes to this series I have a hard time feeling for Spike. He seems a little too rigid and unreal. I prefer Jet and Faye. They seem more real and fleshed out to me
The music as always was wonderful.
