The Return of Lupin the 3rd
It has been five years since Lupin last saw Jigen, Fujiko, Goemon, and Zenigata. All five are brought together in Lisbon, aboard the world largest
Lupin, his accomplices (Jigen, Fujiko, Goemon), and Zenigata (the policeman who seeks to arrest the others) are individually lured to Lisbon where they board the Sirloin, an ocean liner. It has been five years since they last saw one another.
The Sirloin sets sail. The main characters try to enjoy the trip. They receive an invitation to a special dinner after surviving a few deadly traps. Lupin deduces from the invitation that it must have come from Mr. X, head of the Scorpio crime syndicate.
Mr. X abducts the team while they are eating dinner. He reveals that he has been rebuilt since their last encounter. He is now super strong and bulletproof. Lupin, Jigen, Fujiko, and Goemon fight with Mr. X but are unable to beat him. They flee the fight. Mt. X destroys the Sirloin in an attempt to kill them. They survive, as does Zenigata.
Thoughts
This is my first time watching Lupin III. I'm starting here because Part II is the only one available for free on the streaming services that I currently have. According to an article that I found on Crunchyroll, Part II seems like about as good a place as any to begin.
This is a late 1970s anime TV show. The quality of the animation has to be judged in that context. The story was a decent beginning. It didn't turn me off but it also didn't amaze me. If I stick with this series it will be a very long ride to the end. There are 155 episodes in this iteration of the series.
It doesn't seem like it is necessary to watch every episode or even to watch them in order. I am starting to put together a list of episodes to watch, rather that try to watch all of them.
