The Good Twin
Usually this show is about the behind the scenes of GLOW. This episode is presented as the actual GLOW TV show. There is some wrestling and lots of little skits. The thread that runs throughout this episode is that Zoya still has Liberty Belle's daughter, Savannah Rose. Zoya tries to get Olga, her twin sister, to help her sell Savannah Rose. Olga is the good twin. Instead of helping her sister she helps Liberty Belle find Savannah Rose.
Britannica unsuccessfully tries to bring a mannequin to life using science. Black Magic, uses her powers to help Britannica but only in exchange for her brain. Before giving up her brain Britannica backs it up on a 5 1/4" floppy disk. Black Magic brings the mannequin to life. The living mannequin is played by Bash. Britannica and the mannequin are very happy at first. She tied a string around her finger to help her remember to restore her brain but now she thinks that the string is an "engagement string" that the mannequin gave her.
Liberty Belle's quest to find her daughter eventually leads her to the wrestling ring where she has to fight Vicky the Viking. Liberty Belle seems to be holding her own in the fight until Vicky's followers, Fortune Cookie and Beirut, join the fight. All seems to be lost until Vicky tears up her picture of Savannah Rose. Liberty Belle loses her cool at that point. She beats the others up and rescues her daughter.
Britannica can't remember why it is that she tied the string around her finger until her neighbor comes over and her robot shows her the disk which is labeled "Britannica's Brain". She uses the disk to restore her brain. Black Magic returns, very unhappy to discover that Britannica has restored her brain. She reverses her spell and changes the man back into a mannequin. She will only change him back if Britannica beats her in a wrestling match.
There are a number of other little bits that are included in this episode including a couple music videos. The first felt a little like a Madonna video but just a little. The second is quite clearly a parody of "We Are the World" except the title of the song is "Don't Kidnap".
All in all this was a silly episode. I smiled. I might have laughed once or twice but it was not my favorite episode. I'm sure that there are other people who might have been chomping at the bit for an episode like this but I'm not one of them. I like the way the show has developed up to this point. That said it has become a bit of a tradition to have at least one episode that flips the script and does something completely different. This is clearly that episode for this season of GLOW.
