Prelude to an Apocalypse
Josh tries to enter the Kronish building in 2017 but he gets kicked out. He goes home and discovers that his life is amazing. He is an e-Sports superstar named Joosh. Everything is wonderful. He is ready to give up on the mission but then Tiger and Wolf show up at his house. Years have passed for them as seen in the previous episode but it has only been 20 minutes for Josh.
Wolf is still strung out and looking for more cocaine. Josh offers to look after him so that Tiger can investigate Kronish industries. Josh chains him to his bed and goes down to party with his friends including Paul and Woman from the Video Game Store, who were last seen in 1.02.
Tiger befriends Dr. Stu Camillo, who is very tame in this version of 2017. She learns from him that Kronish has some super secret announcement that he plans to make in the next couple days.
Wolf detoxes. It isn't easy. He suffers some hallucinations but eventually he experiences a breakthrough. Josh trains to help Tiger and (detoxed) Wolf take down Dr. Kronish until he finds out that their plan is to blow up the building using suicide vests that they will be wearing. They leave when Josh tries to talk them out of the plan. He isn't ready to give up the wonderful life he has discovered.
Josh goes to visit Gabe, his father, in the Hidden Cliffs Senior Solutions, the nursing home where he put them. Gabe doesn't want to talk to him and chases him off. Josh goes home where he finds Joosh. Joosh, or JFutz as he prefers to be called, is convinced that Josh is a clone sent by some criminal organization. They get into a fight and JFutz slips and cracks his head open on the marble in the bathroom.
Josh gets to Tiger and Wolf before they take off on their mission. He convinces them that there is another way. They are in a parallel universe where the Biotic Wars video game has never been beat. If he beats it now then another Tiger and Wolf will show up. The episode ends with him completing the game successfully.
Thoughts
This was fun, even if it was a bit ridiculous. I love the montage moments: Wolf detoxing, Josh training to help Tiger and Wolf. There weren't any fall down funny moments but I liked how it all played out. I wasn't expecting the parallel universe twist. I'm not sure what to expect from the final episode of the season. Will they succeed? What will the parallel universe version of Tiger and Wolf be like? Will Detective Skaarsgard show up again?
