The Sword - Part 2
Adora quickly reverts back to her usual form. Glimmer takes the sword from her and the monster comes back to life. Adora is still confused as to what exactly happened. She's disgusted by the fact that she turned into a princess. Glimmer refuses to give her the sword. The trio of Adora, Glimmer, and Bow escape from the monster through a doorway that can only be opened with a password (Eternia) that only Adora is able to read. The doorway leads into a cavern that was built by the First Ones, an ancient race of people that have not been seen in over 1000 years.
Adora, Glimmer, and Bow encounter a hologram that doesn't seem to function very well. They do something wrong and the cavern seems to enter self-destruct mode. They escape (but just barely) thanks to Glimmer (who teleports them out of there) and Bow (who prevents them from falling to their deaths). Maybe they could have avoided that if Glimmer had just returned the sword to Adora but she refuses to do so.
They strike out for Bright Moon. Adora is still their prisoner. They stop in Thaymor, a village which is having a party. Adora doesn't know what a party is. They stick around. Adora gets to enjoy the party. The fun ends when the Horde attacks. The troops are led by Catra who has been sent by Shadow Weaver. She is there to retrieve Adora and bring her back to the Fright Zone.
Things don't improve until Glimmer admits to her mistake and finally returns the sword to Adora. She says the magic words and transforms into She-Ra. The Horde is easily defeated. Adora tries to get Catra to stay but she runs off.
Thoughts
Still quite good although it lacks some of the magic from part 1. I liked the hints at the ancient history of the realm. I love Adora's internal conflict between what she has been taught by the Horde and what she is seeing with her own eyes for the first time. I find Adora's relationship with Catra to be an interesting and complicated one. They were friends but Adora has betrayed the Horde. Are they still friends? I think so but their allegiances will keep them from bridging the growing rift that is separating them.
