Full Leather Jacket
Meadow's friend Hunter got early acceptance at the school of her choice. Meadow feels left out and doesn't like the schools that her parents want her to attend. She wants to go to Berkley. They want her to go to Georgetown or Notre Dame. A letter arrives from Berkley explaining that her application is incomplete. Carmela sees it before Meadow does. At first she throws it in the trash but later she feels bad about what she did. She secretly retrieves the letter and gives it to Meadow.
Tony has Silvio and Paulie lean on Richie. They want him to make Beansie's home wheelchair accessible. Richie can't believe it. He tries to please Tony by giving him a nice leather jacket that he took off some local tough guy years ago. Tony likes the jacket but he still wants Richie to fix up Beansie's home.
Carmela turns to her neighbor, Jeanie Cusamano, for help with getting Meadow into Georgetown. Jeanie's sister is a lawyer and got her law degree from Georgetown. Jeanie asks but her sister says no. Carmela goes to visit Jeanie's sister. She brings her a pie and a copy of Meadow's transcripts. She does her best to back Jeanie's sister into a corner.
Richie sends some of his guys over to Beansie's house but they don't fix it, they wreck the place. Richie notices that Tony isn't wearing the jacket. He asks Tony about it but Tony is evasive. Later, Richie sees someone else wearing what looks like the jacket. Richie is incensed.
Christopher proposes to Adriana. He has to force his way past her mother in order to ask her. Adriana says yes.
Carmela has a change of heart and stops giving Meadow such a hard time. It's a little unclear why.
Tony meets with Dr. Melfi. He tells her about the situation with the SUV he tried to give Meadow. He tells her how it came into his possession. Dr. Melfi interprets his actions as good in the sense that she thinks he was unconsciously trying to teach Meadow something by giving her a car that used to belong to her friend.
Matt and Sean feel like they aren't making any progress in working their way up the ladder in Tony Soprano's organization. They are working with Chris but he isn't cutting them any slack. They try approaching Tony but that doesn't turn out well. They approach Richie Aprile but he isn't about to help them out. They try to kill Chris, thinking that it will please Richie. Sean gets killed in the attempt. Matt escapes and turns to Richie for help. Richie can't believe what he's hearing and refuses to help Matt.
The episode ends with Chris in the hospital surrounded by a friends and family.
Thoughts
This was a decent episode. It was solidly good. Things are starting to come together. The animosity between Tony and Richie is rising to the surface once again. Matt and Sean went and did something truly stupid. I don't recall how it all plays out but I'm pretty sure that Matt and Richie will both be dead before the end of the season.
