Dear White People 2.06

Chapter VI

Lionel wants to restart the school newspaper. He puts a little effort into turning his room into the new headquarters for the paper. He invites Silvio to show him what he did but Silvio is dismissive of his ideas for a headline article. Lionel ends working with Brooke on one of his story ideas, finding out who is behind the @AltIvyW twitter account.

Lionel continues to flirt with Wesley. On a couple occasions he has to leave Wesley to work on the story. Wesley is understanding but not happy about the way Lionel leaves him.

Lionel and Brooke find clues that lead them to Rachid. They are operating under the assumption that whoever stole Sorbet, Kelsey's dog, must be @AltIvyW. They find Sorbet. It was Al, Rachid's roommate, who took the dog, but neither of them is @AltIvyW.

Wesley comes over and hangs out while Brooke and Lionel are working. He brings food from McDonald's. Reggie lends a hand. He writes a program to figure out @AltIvyW's password only to discover that @AltIvyW uses two factor authentication.

Lionel and Wesley finally get to spend some time alone together in Lionel's room. Things get pretty hot and heavy.

Lionel is about ready to give up when by chance he discovers that Silvio is @AltIvyW. He's so angry he doesn't know what to do. He confronts Silvio who is completely unapologetic about it. Lionel goes back to his room filled with rage.

Thoughts

I really liked this one. It had a through-line and it advanced the overall plot of the season. The scene where Brooke misinterprets Lionel's signals and tries to seduce him was too funny. Brooke is one of the criminally underused characters on this show. I never really liked Silvio and now I have one more reason to dislike him.
