Tribeca and Geils catch a guy who is trying to smuggle ferrets. They examine the ferret with some help from Dr. Scholls and Dr. Edelweiss. What they find leads them to the man behind the ferret smuggling, Helmut FrontBut (Keegan-Michael Key). This leads to them entering a poker tournament sponsored by FrontBut.
Geils claims to be an expert at poker but he loses the $50,000 they brought to the tournament on the first hand. Tribeca gets the money she needs to get back in the game from Laura Partridge, an old friend and current rival.
Thoughts
The last thing I recall seeing Keegan-Michael Key in was the first season of Fargo, although he only had a small part in that. I didn't recognize Kerri Kenney, the actor who played Laura Partridge, but she was also in three episodes of Season 3 of Casual. I don't remember her at all from that even though she seems familiar.
This was a fun episode. It brought a smile to my face but I didn't think it was great. Worth a watch if you don't expect too much from it.
