Better Call Saul 1.05

Alpine Shepherd Boy

Jimmy visits some potential clients. Not all of them seem like viable clients. One wants to secede his land from the United States. He's ready to pay Jimmy $1 million to help him out but it is money that he minted himself with him own picture on it. Another potential client has developed a toilet that makes sexually suggestive comments when people use it. The client wants to market the toilet to children. Jimmy finally seems to find his niche when he visits a woman who wants him to prepare her will.

The police visit Chuck after his neighbor calls the police about stealing her newspaper. He won't let them in so they break down the door and taser him. Jimmy finds out about it from Kim who found out from Howard. They find him in the hospital. He's freaked out by the electronic devices around him. Chuck and Jimmy convince the doctor not to have him committed for 30 days.

Jimmy takes some cues from television show and starts dressing like Matlock. He invests in some advertising and has his name printed at the bottom of Jello cups that are distributed at a nursing home.

Mike gets in a little bit of trouble. He is parked outside the front of a woman's home. She sees him as she is leaving for work. She stops to look at him but no words are exchanged. Later he gets a visit from police officers.

Thoughts

The doctor whom Jimmy, Kim, and Chuck talk to in the hospital proves that Chuck isn't allergic to electrical fields. She switches on some of the sensors along his bed where he can't see them. Chuck doesn't react. What is Chuck's problem if he isn't really hypersensitive to electrical fields? Does Jimmy know that everything isn't as it seems with his brother?

I think the woman that Mike was checking up on was probably his daughter. She was dressed like a nurse. Who were the guys who visit Mike at the very end of the episode? They seemed like cops but the moment went by so quickly that I'm not sure.

What is it with the musical montages? There is another one in this episode. It wasn't as annoying as the ones in the earliest episodes but why do they keep using them?

There were no flashbacks and no sign of the Kettlemans in this episode but I am reasonably certain that they will be back.

All the other episodes in this season end with the letter O. Originally this episode was going to be called Jello. That's a brand name and apparently they couldn't get permission to use it.

I thought this was a decent episode. It wasn't quite as interesting or as much fun as the last two.
