Better Call Saul 1.10

Marco

Jimmy says goodbye to Marco in 1992. He's getting ready to move to Albuquerque. Marco wants him to stay and hang out. He's very disappointed when he learns the Jimmy is going to work for Chuck. He doesn't understand. Jimmy can't be swayed. He says goodbye and leaves.

Jimmy goes to see Howard in 2002. He talks with Kim before he sees Howard. Jimmy gives Howard a list of all the things that Chuck will need. His shopping list, more or less. Jimmy and Howard seem to be on better terms. He even apologizes to Howard for calling him a pig-fucker.

Better Call Saul 1.09

Pimento

No flashbacks.

Sandpiper Crossing's attorneys get serious. They try to get Jimmy barred from stepping foot in the assisted living facility. He fights that and wins but they don't stop there. They start issuing all sorts of legal documents to try and block the case from moving forward. Jimmy is ready to take on the fight but Chuck thinks that it is too much for the two of them. They need help. They need HHM. Jimmy is resistant but eventually he capitulates.

RICO

The bad blood between Jimmy and Howard goes way back, back to when Jimmy passed the bar exam. He was working in the mail room of HHM at the time. He wanted to be hired as an attorney. Chuck said he would have to talk to the other partners. Howard came to talk to Jimmy while he was celebrating with the rest of the mailroom staff. The upshot of their conversation was that HHM was not going to hire him as an attorney.

Bingo

Jimmy helps Mike deal with the homicide detectives from Philadelphia. He returns the stolen notebook to them and claims that they found it in the parking lot. The younger detective is livid but the older one gets him to back off. Mike has a private chat with the older detective once his partner and Jimmy have left the room. The older detective agrees that the dead cops got what they deserved and has hope that the department will improve. Jimmy tries grilling Mike afterwords but Mike refuses to tell him what was said.

Five-O

A heavy portion of this episode is devoted to flashbacks to Mike's past. Jimmy is in this one but Mike is the central character. Kim and Chuck are not in this episode.

In the past, Mike arrives in Albuquerque for the first time. Stacey, his daughter-in-law, picks him up at the train station. Mike doesn't let on but he has a gunshot wound in his left shoulder. He dresses it as best he can in the bathroom before he gets in the car with her. He visits with her and his granddaughter. She asks him about a phone call that Matty, her husband, received the night before he was killed. She thinks he was talking to Mike but Mike claims he doesn't remember such a call.

Jimmy visits some potential clients. Not all of them seem like viable clients. One wants to secede his land from the United States. He's ready to pay Jimmy $1 million to help him out but it is money that he minted himself with him own picture on it. Another potential client has developed a toilet that makes sexually suggestive comments when people use it. The client wants to market the toilet to children. Jimmy finally seems to find his niche when he visits a woman who wants him to prepare her will.

1992 - Jimmy runs a scam with the help of an associate who pretends to be a victim.

2002 - Jimmy talks the Kettlemans into giving themselves up. They want him to take a bribe but he insists that he can't. He takes the money, in the end, but it isn't clear under what terms he took it. He starts figuring out how to account for the money once he gets back to his office.

The episode opens with a moment from 1992. Jimmy has been arrested. Chuck has come to see him, to help him out. Chuck almost leaves Jimmy there but Jimmy pleads with him. He agrees to change and to follow Chuck's lead. Chuck stays. The rest of the episode takes place in 2002, the present.

Jimmy calls Kim, one of the attorneys from his brother's law firm. He tries to get information from her about the Kettlemans. He suggests that they might be in danger. Jimmy goes to a pay phone after talking to Kim. He calls the Kettleman home a few times, until someone picks up. He warns them that they are in danger and then hangs up.

Tuco hasn't killed the brothers. He knocks them out, ties them up, and is trying to decide what to do with them when Jimmy shows up. Jimmy tries to play it smooth but the brothers accuse him of being the mastermind, which is true. Tuco gets some of his buddies and they take Jimmy and the twins out to the desert.

Jimmy talks his way out of death and mutilation but Tuco still wants to kill the brothers for insulting his grandmother. Jimmy pleads with him. Tuco is very resistant but Jimmy convinces him that breaking their legs would be better than killing them.

The opening portion of the episode takes place after Breaking Bad. Jimmy McGill has moved to Omaha and is working at a Cinnabon. He has grown a mustache and wears glasses. He looks very nervous. It is unclear how much time has passed since the last episode in Breaking Bad. This part of the episode is not in color. Once it is over the rest of the episode takes place at an unspecified point in the past, before the events of Breaking Bad, before Jimmy McGill started to use the name Saul Goodman.
