Twilight, a spy, is given a mission which requires him to have a family to maintain his cover and get close to his target. Loid Forger (aka Twilight) is looking for an extremely intelligent child because he needs to enroll them in Eden College, a prestigious school, and there is an entrance exam the child will have to pass. He adopts Anya, a five-year-old girl who seems to be extremely intelligent.
Loid doesn't realize that Anya is a telepath. She escaped from secret government program where she was raised. She has faked intelligence by reading other people's minds. She manages to pass the entrance exam but then Twilight discovers that he is expected to bring his wife and Anya in for an interview before Anya can be admitted to the school.
This show is based on a manga series that I have not read. The series is till ongoing but to date there have been 14 collected editions of the manga. There are 37 episodes of the anime series, so far. More episodes are supposed to be released late in 2025.
Twilight has an assistant, Franky, who shows up briefly in this episode.
The setting for this series is the twin countries of Westalis and Ostania, which are roughly based on East and West Germany. Twilight is from Westalis. The goal of his mission (Operation Strix) is to help maintain the peace between East and West.
I enjoyed this episode very much. It is silly and made me laugh in a few places. I will be watching more of it.
