starring Glynn Turman, Louis Gossett, Joan Pringle
directed by Arthur Marks
The soul of New Orleans gangster J.D. Walker returns more than 30 years after he was murdered. Walker is looking for revenge. Intermittently and to a larger and larger degree Walker starts to take over the body and mind of law student Ike Hendrix (Glynn Turman). J.D. interferes with Ike's shared life with Christella (Joan Pringle), his girlfriend. J.D.'s search for his killer leads him to the church of Reverend Elijah Bliss (Louis Gossett Jr.) whose daughter's mother was J.D.'s sister Roberta.
I've seen Glynn Turman in a few other things. Most recently I saw him in Fargo (Season 4) where he played Doctor Senator.
I've seen Louis Gossett Jr. in a number of other things, the most recent of which was Watchmen, the HBO limited series.
The actors, especially the three leads, did an excellent job with what they were given. Glynn Turman does an excellent job of playing Ike and J.D. as two very different characters.
This isn't a cinematic masterpiece or a great movie but I enjoyed watching it. I had not seen it before or heard about it until relatively recently.
