Better Call Saul 6.12

Waterworks

Breaking Bad time - Saul gives Kim what she wants and signs the paperwork to end their marriage. She refuses to take her portion of the Sandpiper settlement.

Gene time - Kim flies from where she lives in Florida to New Mexico, meets with Cheryl (Howard's widow) and gives her a copy of a sworn statement that she provided to the District Attorney's office. Cheryl has questions for her. Kim answers them to the best of her ability.

Gene, follows breaks into the house that Buddy refused to rob. Jeff returns after 20 minutes but then a cop car pulls up behind him. Jeff freaks out, tries leaving and crashes into a parked car. Gene gets away on foot but Jeff gets arrested. Jeff is accused of robbing the home in front of which he was parked.

Jeff calls Gene from jail and explains what happened. Gene tells him not to worry since there was no physical evidence to link him to the robbery. He tells Jeff to sit tight. Gene calls Marion and makes plans with her to get Jeff out on bail.

Marion isn't ready when Gene shows up. She's been watching Saul Goodman videos. He tries to sweet talk her but she won't listen and uses the life alert that she wears around her neck to alert life alert that someone named Saul Goodman has broken into her home. The episode ends with Gene leaving Marion's home.

Thoughts

I don't feel sorry for Gene. He got himself into this mess. Clearly he's lost a step. Working with Jeff was never a good idea. He deserves what he gets at this point. I don't think that he's going to get out of this unscathed. I don't think Kim is going to swoop in and rescue him.

I have mixed feelings about Kim stepping forward and telling the truth. If it cleanses her conscience then it is for the best but I don’t see what other good it does. I have to believe that is why she is doing it. I don't think that Jimmy, even if he does get caught will rat her out.

I think this was a good episode but it didn't blow me away. I like the cliffhanger ending but I can wait a week before watching the last episode. I'm not chomping at the bit to see how the series ends.
