Sam needs to write an essay for his college application. His counselor tells him that he needs to work on it. He asks Casey about it and she tells him that he needs to lie a little. He goes Elsa because in his eyes she is the biggest liar he knows. She tries to talk him out of learning how to lie. She isn't successful but he gives up on getting her help and turns to Zahid who proceeds to teach him the Pants on Fire technique of lying.
Casey isn't ready to spend time with Evan. She is still too embarrassed by what she did when she was drunk.
Elsa decides she needs to be more honest, a lot more honest. She is doing okay until Doug starts asking her questions about her affair. It gets very uncomfortable very quickly.
There are some great scenes with Sam and Zahid, who demonstrates his Pants of Fire technique on their boss. Sam tries out the technique on Paige. She gets so worked up over what he tells her that she accidentally slices off the tip of her finger. It was a very funny scene up to that point. I love her facial expressions.
Julia is still trying to cope with her pregnancy. There is a very funny scene where she is getting a sonogram.
Doug doesn't look good for most of this episode. He keeps bringing pizza home. In the middle of the episode he has what looks like a panic attack. He didn't collapse but he looked like he might. The episode ends with him having a full on moment as he collapses in front of Casey and Evan.
I thought this was an excellent episode. There was a great mix of silly and serious.
