(Before the opening credits) Batman and Green Arrow fight the Clock King. The scene continues after the credits as Jaime Reyes watches highlights from the fight on the evening news.
Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) teams up with Batman to save the Earth from a meteor. Jaime is still getting used to his superpowers and accidentally transports himself and Batman through a wormhole that leads to the far side of the Milky Way galaxy.
Batman and Blue Beetle land on Gibble, a planet where the Gibbles, cute, semi-transparent beings are terrorized by the villainous Kanjar Ro. The Gibbles recognize Blue Beetle and assume that Batman is his sidekick. Jaime has no idea who they are. It must have been his predecessor who visited Gibble in the past. Blue Beetle and Batman help the cute aliens to defeat Kanjar Ro. They return to Earth through another wormhole and arrive just in time to pickup where they left off.
Thoughts
This is a fun episode. It presents Jaime Reyes in much the same light as he is presented in Season 2 of Young Justice. He is a hero who doesn’t fully understand the powers he has been given and who argues with the sentient scarab on his back which gives him those powers.
I’ve seen this episode a couple times before. I saw it when it first came out (Nov 2008) and again later when I rented the DVD from Netflix (Feb 2014). It is included as an extra on the DVD that also has the first 5 episodes of season 2 of Young Justice which explains why I watched it again today.
