Fargo 3.06

The Lord of No Mercy

Ray and Nikki talk about the guys who beat her. She is still in bad shape. The pain is intense. Ray wants to kill them. They locate Yuri and Meemo and follow them from the office of Stussy, Inc. They see them meet with Varga. Ray is ready to get out of the car with murderous intent but Nikki convinces him that they need to wait for the right moment.

Meemo meets with the IRS auditor. He acts as if he is the lawyer for the company and chases off the auditor.

Emmit gets a visit from Chief Burgle and Officer Lopez. They ask him about his brother. Varga sees the whole thing start to unfold and interrupts the meeting. He refuses to give him name. He tries to poke holes in their story. He convinces them to leave but Chief Burgle seems far from convinced that Varga can be trusted.

Varge tries doing an internet search on Chief Burgle and comes up with nothing. He sends Yuri to obtain the file on the murder of Ennis Stussy. He sends Meemo to find and kill Ray and Nikki.

Burgle and Lopez knock on Ray's door. Ray and Nikki are home but they don't answer the door and they stay out of sight. Ray and Nikki pack up their things, once the police officers have left. They head to a motel and pay with cash. They are unaware that Meemo is following them.

Ray discovers that he left the bag of money from the bank in the apartment. He goes back to get it, leaving Nikki alone. He finds Emmit in his apartment. Emmit has the stamp. He wants to give it back to Ray but they get into a fight. The glass case holding the stamp breaks and a piece gets lodged in Ray's neck. He pulls it out and bleeds to death in front of Emmit who does nothing to help him.

Emmit calls Varga for help. Varga in turn reaches out to Meemo, who was getting ready to kill Nikki at the time. She didn't see him. She had gone out for ice. She sensed something was wrong when she got back but he was already gone and from the looks of it he left through the bathroom window.

Varga and Memmo converge on Ray's place. Varga tells Emmit, who is in a bit of shock over his brother's death, what to do.

Chief Burgle decides she's had enough. She calls the St Cloud PD and tells the operator to contact Officer Lopez and tell her to meet her at Ray Stussy's place.

Thoughts

The wheels are really grinding. It doesn't feel as if there is any far on this cut of meat. The story continues to move forward. Ray is out of the picture now but Nikki is still very much in it.

There's a scene where Varga is picking his teeth with what looks like a small screwdriver. I can't think of any word to describe it other than gross.

I was curious to see what a confrontation between Ray and Yuri and Meemo would be like. That's not not in the cards any more. I'm guessing that there will be another encounter between Nikki and the two thugs, either one at a time or together.

Emmit acts so out of it most of the time. I wonder if he is going to wake up? Will Sy change at all? He also seems indecisive. Burgle and Lopez are clearly the heroes but hopefully Emmit and Sy will do more than just sleepwalk through the last 4 episodes.

I am really enjoying this season, as much as the first two. It is solidly good in my book.
