Jackie gets overwhelmed at work when her shift is 4 nurses short. She get Sam, a loaner from another hospital, but he is high on something and of little use. She winds up telling him to take hike. He accuses her of being a user ("takes one to know one") before he leaves.
Jackie gets into an argument with Dr. Cooper. It gets heated when he tries talking to her while she is on the phone with Grace, who is having a panic attack. She had kept her life private to the extent that, previously, no one at the hospital, including Eddie, knew she had a daughter. Coop tells him over lunch.
Mrs. Greenfield (Andrea Martin), a patient who is brought in after a car accident, seems more interested in getting Dr. Cooper interested in one of her daughters than getting getting proper treatment.
Gloria still has the baby in her office that she found abandoned in the ER last episode.
Thoughts
This was the fourth and final season 1 episode directed by Steve Buscemi. He also directed the first two episodes from season 3.
Sam will return in future seasons. This was his first appearance but he appears in many more episodes in future seasons.
Not bad. I like it but it didn't blow me away.
